Re: %%%% |
Diamondhead, I don't remember, but it strikes a bell . Was it one of those Swing era balls hung from the celling,? Maybe someone else remembers ?I wish I went to that 1980 show ! I went to one of the Long Beach shows ( 12/13/80). This is before I went to all the shows in a run . One of m buddies who went the next night , told me they played The Wheel, "Oh no, I missed The Wheel"! From then on Iwent to all the shows . But that Swing show, might just be the best in the run .
The Swing sure was "funky", ( in both the good and bad sense ),The audience was really hard core , lots of early serious heads, Hell's Angels etc. in 77 the Dead were not "cool", so this was "core" group of fans .

Re: %%%% |
Life is full of makes and misses. My first show was towards the end of 1970. When they came back to LA, I couldn't understand why you would go see a group more than once a year. So, I passed on 8/6/71 at the Palladium. I got smarter. :)
BTW, I remember something like vines hanging from the ceiling at the Swing. Could have been my meds.
